Meet the Alumni: Roberta Isleib, Ph.D.
Program/year:
Clinical Psychology, ’85
What I’m doing now: Launching my second mystery series, this one starring clinical psychologist/advice columnist Dr. Rebecca Butterman in DEADLY ADVICE. My five previous books featured aspiring but neurotic golf professional, Cassie Burdette — also a UF grad!
My favorite UF memory: This is hard because my four years at UF were wonderful. We worked hard, but played hard too, and developed a very close-knit community. If I have to choose one, I’d pick the day I defended my dissertation with my committee. There was a tradition in which you took some kind of food to the meeting. But none of the faculty ate anything until they were pretty sure you passed muster. I can still remember my committee chair cutting into the cake — an orange pound cake soaked in Grand Marnier syrup...
People would be surprised to know: I never attended a Gator football game or the Gator growl. What a missed opportunity!
Family: I live with my husband and an energetic Australian shepherd in Connecticut.
In the future I hope to: Write a book where readers (and lots of them) say: “Wow! She not only tells a good story, her writing is fantastic!”
