Staff & Faculty Awards Dinner 2001
The College held its Twentieth Annual Staff and Faculty Appreciation Dinner
on Friday, October 5, 2001 at the Best Western Gateway Grand. Staff
and faculty who have been a part of the College of Public Health and Health
Professions for five, ten, fifteen, twenty, thirty and thirty-five years
received appreciation awards.

Each year, the College recognizes an individual staff member who has performed exceptionally in their position in the past year. Ruth Ann Czerenda, Department of Rehabilitation Counseling, was the individual recognized as Employee of the Year. Ruth Ann was honored with a plaque and a $500 check for her exemplary qualities, which include a productive management style, a combination of energy and initiative, professional commitment to her job, and sensitivity to the needs of people. |
Student Welcome
The Student Welcome was held on Friday, August 31 at 9:00 A.M.
in the Evelyn F. & William L. McKnight Brain Institute auditorium. Students
had the opportunity to meet the Dean, Associate Deans, Department Chairs,
and learn about college activities in the various disciplines represented
by the college.
Convocation
The College held its Thirtieth annual Outstanding Achievement Convocation
on May 3rd, 2001. Convocation is a time to recognize the accomplishments
of the faculty and students. This years Convocation was held at the
Touchdown Terrace (North End Zone) Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, and over 200
people were in attendance. Thirty-four students were recognized for their
outstanding academic achievement.

Michael Borut, Erin Cabek, Lisa Campbell, Stacy Carmichael, Jill Castina,

Judson A. Clements Jr. Memorial Scholarship Award:
Catherine Llanes, a Occupational Therapy student, received the Judson A.
Clements Jr. Memorial Scholarship Award. This scholarship recognizes
an exceptional student who has ties to Duvall County and who demonstrates
both professional promise and commitment to the community.

This year the College developed a new award to recognize individuals who demonstrate dedication to academic training in a health profession, strong leadership and service to the College. In its inaugural year, the first individual we recognized is Mr. Mark Bishop, a student in the Rehabilitation Science Doctoral program and a teaching assistant in the Department of Physical Therapy. Congratulations Mark! |

Dr. Mark H. Trimble Memorial Scholarship Award: |

The Dr. Mark H. Trimble Memorial Scholarship Award was created to recognize a student who demonstrates excellence in orthopedics, shows initiative and self-reliance in academic studies, and has demonstrated participation in campus or community activities. The first recipient of this award is Ms. Erin Cabak. Congratulations Erin! |
Shands Hospital Auxiliary
The College extends its sincere thanks to the Shands Auxiliary. The
Auxiliary provided five $1000 scholarships, and one $1500 scholarship awarded
at the College's Outstanding Achievement Convocation. These scholarships
support students studying to be health professionals who are performing
well academically and who demonstrate a strong commitment to the ideals
of their profession. Congratulations to: Rebecca Bennett, Health
Services Administration; Julie Dayvault, Health Science; Rebecca Jump, Clinical
and Health Psychology; Melissa Miller, Physical Therapy; Sarah Tucker, Physical
Therapy; and Chris Loftis, Clinical and Health Psychology.
