Darius Goes West: The Roll of His Life
Join us for a special screening of “Darius Goes West: The Roll of His Life,” on Thursday, September 10, 2009 at 7 p.m. at the UF Phillips Center for the Performing Arts. The screening is free and open to the public.
The most decorated film of 2007, “Darius Goes West” tells the story of 15-year-old Darius Weems from Athens, Ga., as he leaves home for the first time. Darius was born with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, the most common fatal genetic disorder to affect children worldwide. Darius and his accompanying friends-turned-filmmakers have a specific goal: to get his wheelchair customized on MTV's hit show, “Pimp My Ride.” Along the way they discover joy, brotherhood, and the knowledge that life, even when imperfect, is always worth the ride.
The UF event will include appearances by UF cheerleaders, Gator celebrities and the cast and crew of “Darius Goes West.”
