Linda Sommerfield, Ph.D.: Dr. Sommerfield has joined the Clinical Health Psychology Department as Visiting Professor as of July 1. Dr. Sommerfield was previously employed at Yale University's Brady Memorial Laboratory in New Haven, Connecticut.

Carrie Anne Mills, M.S.: Carrie has become part of the team in the department of Communicative Disorders as Clinical Lecturer in Speech Language Pathology. Carrie was previously employed at DuPont Childrens' Hospital in Wilmington, Delaware.

Mary Ragland: Mary has joined the department of Physical Therapy as Coordinator, Academic Support Services 2 as of July 1st. She was previously employed at Palm Beach Community College in Lake Worth, Florida.

June 2005

Karen Fairbanks: Joining the department of Physical Therapy as Health Support Technician June 17th, Karen was previously employed at Tacachale's Department of Physical Therapy.

Nabih Asal, PhD.: Dr. Asal joins the Dean's Office Master of Public Health Programs as of June 17 as Professor; Dr. Asal transferred from the College of Medicine, Department of Epidemiology/Health Policy.

Vicki Mayo: Vicki joins the Clinical Health Psychology Department as Senior Secretary, June 17.

Ryan Theis: Ryan joins the Dean's Office Master of Public Health Programs as of June 17 as Coordinator Research Programs/Services 4. Ryan transferred from the College of Medicine, Department of Epidemiology/Health Policy.

Brittany A. Kavanaugh: Brittany has joined the department of Communicative Disorders as a Clinical Lecturer. She was previously employed by Nemours Children's Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. She obtained her Master of Science in Communciation Sciences and Disorders at Florida State University in 2003.

April 2005

Lauren McCain: Lauren began on 4/22/05 in the department of Communicative Disorders as a Clerk. She was previously employed as a store manager of Hungry Howie's in Lake City, Florida.

Lorna Chorba: Lorna joined the Dean's Office, Florida Center for Medicaid and the Uninsured on 4/8/05 as a Program Assistant. She has worked for several years in the department in an OPS capacity.

Shaytu Schwandes: Shaytu joined the Dean's Office on 4/8/05 as an IT Practitioner. He was previously employed by the department in an OPS capacity. He obtained his BA in Digital Arts and Sciences from the University of Florida in 2004.

Linda K. Porter: Linda joined the Dean's Office, Oak Hammock as an Occupational Therapist on 4/1/05. She was previously employed by the department in an OPS capacity. She obtained her BS in Occupational Therapy from the University of Oklahoma in 1975.

March 2005

Jonathan Orsini: Jonathan joined the Dean's Office as a Fiscal Assistant on 3/18/05. He was previously employed by the department of Clinical & Health Psychology in an OPS capacity. He obtained his BS in Psychology from UF in 2001.

LeJene Normann: LeJene began employment with the department of Communicative Disorders as a Secretary on 3/11/05. She was previously employed by Wal-Staf.

Juanita Fahm: 'Nita' joined the department of Health Services Research, Management, and Policy on 3/4/05 as a Grants Specialist. She was previously employed by the UF Craniofacial Center as a Program Assistant.

February 2005

Laurie Bialosky: Laurie began employment with the department of Physical Therapy as a Program Assistant on 2/25/05. She obtained her BA in English and Politics from Ithica College in New York. She was previously employed as a Conference Planner for the Society of Protective Coatings in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Patricia Ball: Patricia began her employment with the Dean's Office, Oak Hammock on 2/24/05 as a Rehabilitation Specialist. She obtained a BS in Physical Therapy in 1971 from the University of Florida, and a Masters of Education in 1981 from the same. She was previously employed by North Florida Regional Medical Center as a Physical Therapist.

January 2005

Kimberly Shaw, PhD: Dr. Shaw joined the department of Clinical and Health Psychology on 1/15/05 as a Clinical Associate Professor. Her area of focus is Pediatrics. She was previously employed at Nova Southeastern University as a Professor and Director. She obtained her PhD from the University of Miami in 1989.

Kerry Chmielenski, MA: Kerry began employment as a Provisional Clinical Assistant Professor on 1/14/05 with the department of Communicative Disorders. Her area of focus is Audiology. She obtained her MA and BS from the University of Connecticut in 2000 and is currently working on her AuD. She was previously employed by Florida Hospital in Orlando as an Audiologist.

Sarah Wright: Sarah began employmet with the Dean's Office, Oak Hammock on 1/3/05 as a Therapy Aide. She was previously employed by Visiting Angels in Clermont, Florida.

Holiday Alig: Holiday began working for the Dean's Office, Florida Center for Medicaid and the Uninsured on 1/3/05 as a Grants Specialist. She was previously employed by the UF Department of Chemistry as a Grants Assistant.

John Rosenbek, PhD: The department of Communicative Disorders is pleased to announce Dr. Rosenbek as their new Chair, effective 1/1/05.

Mary Peoples Sheps, DrPH: The Dean's Office, Public Health Programs is pleased to announce Dr. Peoples Sheps as Associate Professor and Program Director, effective 1/1/05.

December 2004

Jamie Pomeranz, MHS: Jamie began employment on 12/31/04 as a Provisional Assistant Professor for the department of Rehabilitation Counseling. His area of focus is mental health. He was previously employed by the VA as a pre-doc fellow. He obtained his MHS from UF in 2000 and his MESS in 1998. He also obtained his BS from FSU in 1995.

Cheryl Swartz: Cheryl was hired by the department of Physical Therapy on 12/23/04 as a Program Assistant. She was previously employed by the department in an OPS capacity.

Renee Moyer: Renee began employment on 12/22/04 for the department of Occupational Therapy as an Assistant In. Her area of focus will be fieldwork. She obtained her BS from the University of Florida in 1975. She was previously employed as a private OT consultant.

Deanna Sabatino: Deanna began working for the department of Clinical and Health Psychology on 12/13/04 as a Financial Assistant Counselor. She was previously employed by Everest A/R Management Group in Gainesville.

Monica Johnson: Monica began employment with the department of Clinical and Health Psychology on 12/13/04 as a Senior Clerk. She was previously employed by Student Financial Affairs at UF as a Senior Clerk.

Sarah L. McKune, MPH: Sarah joined the Public Health Programs as a Coordinator, Research Programs/Services 2 on 12/13/04. She obtained her MPH from the Emory University in 2002. She was previously employed by WellFlorida Council, as the Director of Community Initiatives.

Amal Khoury, PhD, MPH: Dr. Khoury began her employment with the department of Health Services Research, Management, and Policy, Public Health Programs on 12/5/04 as an Associate Professor. She was previously employed by the University of Southern Mississippi as an Assistant Professor. She obtained her PhD from Johns Hopkins in 1998 and her MPH from the American University of Beirut in 1993. Her area of specialty is Health Policy/Management.

Zhou Yang, PhD, MPH: Dr. Yang joined the department of Health Services Research Management and Policy on 12/1/04 as an Assistant Professor. He was previously employed by Michigan State University as an Assistant Professor. He obtained his PhD from the University of North Carolina in 2003, and his MPH from the same in 1999. His area of specialty is Health Policy/Administration.

November 2004

Lottie Harper: Lottie started on 11/22/04 with the department of Communicative Disorders as a Clerk. She was previously employed by Saint Leo University as a Staff Assistant and obtained her AA from Lake City Community College.

Brenda Schaffnit: Brenda joined the Dean's Office at Oak Hammock on 11/19/04 as an Occupational Therapist. She obtained her BS in Occupational Therapy in 1988 from the University of Florida. She was previously employed by Easter Seals at Altrusa House in Gainesville.

Ranee SooHoo: Ranee began employment on 11/19/04 in the Dean's Office, Public Health Programs as a Senior Secretary. She was previously employed by the department of Surgery at UF as an Office Manager. She obtained her BA in Sociology from the University of Florida in 1976.

Srikant Vallbhajousla, MS: Srikant joined the Brooks Center for Rehabilitation Studies on 11/15/04 as an IT Practitioner. He obtained his MS from the University of Cincinnati, and his BE from Chaitanya Bharathi Institute of Technology, in Hyderabad, India. He was previously employed by MATLAB programming for 3-D motion lab.

Amardeep Dugal, MS: Amardeep began employment with the Brooks Center for Rehabilitation Studies as a Biological Scientist on 11/15/04. He obtained his MS from the University of Buffalo in 2004. He was previously employed by Rush Presbyterian St. Lukes Medical Center as a Student Engineering Assistant II.

Khanya Bennett: Khanya began employment with the department of Clinical & Health Psychology as a Senior Clerk. She was previously employed by Shands Healthcare as a Financial Specialist.

Robert Tobias: Rob started on 11/10/04 in the Dean's Office as an IT Practitioner. He was previously employed at the Levin College of Law at UF as a Computer Tech. He obtained his degree in Computer/Information Science from the University of Florida in 2002.

JoAnn Davis: JoAnn began employment with the department of Communicative Disorders on 11/5/04 as a Clerk. He was previously employed by the department in an OPS capacity.

Elena Andresen, PhD: Dr. Andresen joins the department of Health Services Research, Management & Policy as a Professor on 11/1/04. She was previously employed at the St. Louis University School of Public Health as an Associate Professor. She received her PhD from the University of Washington in 1991.

Danielle Sevier, AuD, MA: Dr. Sevier began her employment as an Office Assistant with the department of Physical Therapy on 11/1/04. She was previously employed by the department of Molecular Genetics & Microbiology in the College of Medicine. She received her AuD from the University of Florida in 2000.

Cathy Di Lena: Cathy began her employment on 10/19/04 as a Program Assistant in the Dean's Office. She was previously employed at Oliphant Financial Corporation as a Human Resources Manager prior to owning her own business.

Noreen Frans, MS: Noreen began employment with the department of Communicative Disorders on 10/15/04 as a Clinical Assistant Professor. She was previously self-employed by Better Hearing Services and also served as an Audiologist. She obtained her MS from the University of South Florida in 1979.

Natalie Freeman, PhD, MPH: Dr. Freeman began her employment on 10/8/04 with the Dean's office, Public Health Programs as an Associate Professor. Her area of specialty is Environmental Health. She was previously employed by Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and the School of Public Health at the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey as a Environmental Health Consultant and Adjunct Associate Professor. She obtained her PhD from Rutgers University in 1976.

Carlee Jones, MS: Carlee began employment as a Clinical Lecturer on 10/8/04 with the department of Communicative Disorders. She was previously employed at the College of Medicine, Neurology department as a Coordinator, Clinical Programs 4. She obtained her MS from Arizona State University in 2000.

Theresa Glisson: Theresa began employment on 9/28/04 with the department of Physical Therapy as a Senior Fiscal Assistant. She was previously employed by the Department of Pathology as a Senior Fiscal Assistant.

Lloyd Alford, MS: Lloyd began employment with the department of Communicative Disorders on 9/24/04 as a Clinical Lecturer. He was previously employed by Special Communications,LLC as a Speech Language Pathologist. He completed his MS from Columbia University in 1980. His area of focus is Speech Language Pathology.

Pauline Vickery, MS: Pauline started on 9/14/04 as a Coordinator Student Affairs 3 (Assistant Director, Public Health Programs) in the Dean's Office. She was previously employed by the Suwannee River AHEC a Training and Evaluation Coordinator. She received her Masters of Health Science from UF in 2000, and her BS from UF in 1996.

Megan Markham: Megan began employment with the department of Occupational Therapy as an Occupational Therapist on 9/13/04. She received her BS in Occupational Therapy from Lenior-Rhyne College in 2004.

Catherine Price, PhD: Dr. Price began employment on 9/1/04 with the department of Clinical and Health Psychology as a Research Assistant Professor. Her area of focus is Neuropsychology. She was previously employed by UF as a post doctoral fellow. She obtained her PhD from Drexel University in 2002 and her MS and BS from UCF in 1997 and 1995, respectively.

Robert Weech-Maldonado, PhD: Dr. Weech-Maldonado joined the department of Health Services Research, Management, and Policy on 8/1/04 as an Associate Professor. His area of focus is Healthcare finance, Managerial Epidemiology, and Healthcare management. He received his PhD from Temple University, Philadelphia in 1998 and his MBA in Finance from the University of Puerto Rico in 1987. Babette Brumback, PhD: Dr. Brumback joined the Dean's Office as Associate Professor on 8/1/04. She was previously employed by the UCLA School of Public Health, Biostatistics. She received her PhD from the University of California, Berkley in 1996 and her MS from the same in 1992. Her area of focus is Biostatistics.

Steven Pruett, PhD: Dr. Pruett began his employment as an Assistant Professor in the department of Rehabilitation Counseling on 7/26/04. He received his PhD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2004. He was previously employed by the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Ivelisse Munoz: Ivelisse began her employment with the department of Physical Therapy as a Senior Secretary on 7/16/04. She was previously employed by Tempforce as a Staffing Administrator. She received her BS in Human Resource Development from the University of Florida in 2003.

Iris Anne Sleep: Anne began her employment with the Dean's Office on 7/12/04 as a Clinical Associate In and Program Director. She received her Masters of Science from Florida Gulf Coast University in 2001. She was previously employed with the Rehabcare Group, Contract Therapy Division in Sarasota, Florida as a Senior Program Coordinator/Director of Rehab.

Aram Dobalian, PhD: Dr. Dobalian resigned his position as Assistant Professor from the department of Health Services Administration on 7/2/04. He accepted employment in California.

Carsten Botts, MS: Carsten began his employment on 7/1/04 in the Dean's Office as a Lecturer for the Masters of Public Health program. He obtained his masters degree from Iowa State University in Statistics in 2001.

Katherine L. Gray, AuD: Dr. Gray began her employment 7/1/04 in the department of Communicative Disorders as a Clinical Assistant Professor. Her area of focus is Audiology. She received her Doctor of Audiology in 2004.

Christopher Faircloth, PhD, MAURP: Dr. Faircloth joined the department of Occupational Therapy on 7/1/04 as an Assistant Professor. He obtained his PhD from the University of Florida in 2000. He was previously employed at the VA Medical Center as a Research Health Scientist.

Ellen D. Smolker Lopez, PhD, MPH: Dr. Lopez joined the department of Clinical and Health Psychology as an Assistant Professor on 71/04.
