The concept of an independent college dedicated to educating a broad array of health professionals was realized at the University of Florida in 1958. Traditionally, universities had scattered public health and health professions disciplines across campuses in various colleges, such as liberal arts and sciences, and education. The UF College of Public Health and Health Professions was the first to unite these disciplines as one college and locate them within a health center.
Today, the college benefits by collaborations among the disciplines represented by our departments, including new programs in public health, as we produce the next generation of health educators, scientists and practitioners.
