Applying for Admission to Undergraduate Programs

Programs and General Information

Thank you for your interest in the academic programs offered by the College of Public Health and Health Professions.  We are pleased you are considering our College for your undergraduate education. We offer three tracks at the undergraduate level, all of which lead to our Bachelor of Health Science degree. These tracks are: (1) Health Science; (2) Health Science pre-OT; and (3) Rehabilitative Services. These degree programs commonly are selected by students interested in working in a health care setting and/or continuing their training at the graduate or professional level in a health care discipline (e.g. medicine, physician assistant, physical therapy, occupational therapy, health administration, public health, dentistry, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, audiology, etc).

Please note that Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy are both entry level master's programs in our College. General admission requirements for all of our college's graduate programs can be found on our graduate Web page sections. Pre-physical therapy students commonly select health science as a major but rehabilitative services also is acceptable. Simply choose the track that fits your interests and schedule. The preferred undergraduate major for pre-OT students is health science, which offers a track specifically for pre-OT students that incorporates needed 3000 and 4000 level OT prerequisites. If you already are a junior or senior in a major other than health science and are interested in Occupational Therapy, please contact Dr. Joanne Foss at (352) 273-6817 to discuss 3000 and 4000 level coursework now required for admission to the entry level master's OT program. Regardless of career path, freshmen and sophomores should call for an advising appointment at (352) 273-6400 to discuss 2000 level prerequisites. Students anticipating going to a professional/graduate program not offered by our college also are strongly encouraged to contact the preprofessional advisor for their major of interest.
