Michael
G. Perri, Ph.D., is Dean at the
University of Florida College of Public Health and Health Professions. Dr. Perri joined the UF faculty in 1990 as a Professor of Clinical and Health Psychology. At UF, Dr. Perri has held have held a variety of administrative positions, including as of Head of the Health Psychology Division (1990-2004) and Director of the Psychology Internship Program (1992-2004). From 2004-2007, he served as the College’s Associate Dean for Research.
Dr. Perri’s research focuses on health promotion and disease prevention through changes in diet and physical activity. His current studies involve the development of effective programs for the management of obesity in underserved rural communities. Dr. Perri has contributed to 120 publications, including 90 peer-reviewed journal articles, 4 books, and 26 book chapters/monographs, and he has co-authored papers published in the New England Journal of Medicine, JAMA, Archives of Internal Medicine, Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, and Health Psychology.
Dr. Perri’s research has been supported through grants and contracts from the National Institutes of Health, the Department of Veterans Affairs, and private industry. Over the course of his career, he has been the Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator for more than $31 million in research grants and contracts. He is currently the Principal Investigator for $3.6 million in NIH grants and Co-Investigator for an additional $4.5 million in external awards.
The empirical findings from the 16 randomized controlled trials conducted by Dr. Perri’s research team have had a significant impact on theory, research, and clinical care related to behavioral treatment of obesity. In 2008, Dr. Perri received the American Psychological Association’s Samuel M. Turner Award for Distinguished Contributions to Applied Research in Clinical Psychology.

Dr. Stephanie Hanson, Executive Associate Dean and Clinical Professor
Stephanie
Hanson, Ph.D., is the Executive Associate Dean and a Clinical Professor
at the University of Florida College of Public Health and Health Professions.
A member of the college since 1996, Dr. Hanson received her Ph.D.s in developmental
psychology and clinical psychology from Vanderbilt University. From 1986
to 1991 she was a clinical assistant professor in the University of Missouri
School of Medicine, during which time she directed inpatient psychology
services at Rusk Rehabilitation Center and helped establish their first
postdoctoral psychology training program. She also established psychological
services at the University’s Women’s Health Center. In 1991,
she moved to North Carolina, where she led the development of the first
comprehensive outpatient brain injury program at Charlotte Institute of
Rehabilitation. She subsequently worked as the neurology program development
coordinator for Whitaker Rehabilitation Center in Winston-Salem. Dr. Hanson
chaired the ethics committee for the APA Rehabilitation Psychology division
(Division 22) for seven years (1993-2000) and served as a Division 22 Executive
Committee member (1998 to 2001). She was one of the first women board certified
in rehabilitation psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology
and was on the board of directors of the American Board of Rehabilitation
Psychology, which certifies psychologists in the specialty of rehabilitation,
from 1999 to 2002. She is a fellow of the American Psychological Association. She has chaired multiple APA-sponsored continuing education workshops and symposia, published, and taught on health care ethics. Dr. Hanson's interests include ethical practice in complex health care delivery systems, interdisciplinary team functioning, traumatic brain injury and stroke, and clinical and academic program development. Dr. Hanson oversees administrative aspects of the Health Science program and has previously taught Therapeutic Communication Skills and Ethical and Legal Issues. She is a faculty supervisor for Clinical Observation/Health Care Volunteer Work.

Dr. Mary Peoples-Sheps, Associate Dean for Public Health Development and Practice
Mary
Peoples-Sheps, Dr.P.H., is Associate Dean for Public Health Development
and Practice and Associate Professor in the Department of Health Services
Research, Management and Policy.
Dr. Peoples-Sheps received her Bachelor of Science in nursing degree from Saint John College in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1969, a Master of Science in Nursing, with a major in Maternal and Child Health, from Boston University in 1973, and the Doctor of Public Health degree in Health Administration from the University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill in 1981. She practiced public health nursing throughout the 1970s. From 1981 until 1998, Dr. Peoples-Sheps was on the faculty of the UNC School of Public Health in Maternal and Child Health, Public Health Nursing, and Public Health Practice and Leadership. She also served the school as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and as the first Associate Dean for Public Health Practice. In 2004, she joined the faculty of UF’s College of Public Health and Health Professions to develop infrastructure and to integrate public health programs into the college.
For the past 25 years, Dr. Peoples-Sheps’ teaching, service and research have focused on surveillance of health problems and program planning, evaluation and performance measurement, particularly on behalf of mothers, children and other vulnerable population groups.

Dr. Joanne Foss, Associate Dean for Student and Academic Affairs
Joanne
Foss, Ph.D., is the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs and a Clinical Assistant
Professor at the University of Florida College of Public Health and Health
Professions. She is also the Program Director of Professional Programs in
Occupational Therapy. In this capacity she is responsible for all administrative
duties in the program, as well as the competitive admissions process, academic
retention and advising, and graduation certification. In addition, Dr. Foss
is the director of the occupational therapy entry-level master’s program
and she instructs graduate and undergraduate classes in life span human
development, and pediatric assessment and intervention. Dr. Foss has served
as an investigator, author and editor of a self-study program in Training
of Occupational and Physical Therapist in Early Intervention Services (TOPSEI);
this program is offered nationally as a certification workshop and as a
graduate course. Her research and education interests are in professional
education and training, and pediatric assessment and intervention.

Dr. Ronald R. Rozensky, Associate Dean for International Affairs
Ronald
H. Rozensky Ph.D. is Associate Dean for International Programs at the University
of Florida’s College of Public Health and Health Professions. Dr.
Rozensky joined the UF faculty in 1998 as Chair and Professor of Clinical
and Health Psychology. He served as departmental chair from June 1998 until
September 2006. Dr. Rozensky has published five textbooks and numerous journal
articles on health psychology and professional psychology. Dr. Rozensky
is Board Certified by the American Board of Professional Psychology in both
Clinical and Clinical Health Psychology and is a fellow of the American
Psychological Association. He was the founding editor of the Journal of
Clinical Psychology in Medical Settings and served as editor for thirteen
years. Dr. Rozensky was named the 2001 Distinguished Educator by the Association
of Psychologists in Academic Health Centers and the 2007 Outstanding International
Psychologist by the American Psychological Association’s Division
of International Psychology. He was elected to serve on the American Psychological
Association’s Board of Directors and chaired that association’s
Board of Educational Affairs and Board of Professional Affairs.
