A little history on the Lawn Ranger Lifter......
....This lifter endeavor got started when someone posted
a question on the Forum asking how people removed the grid from the Egg.
Responses ranged from vise grip pliers to box end wrenches. For about
a year, Lawn Ranger had been using a left-over landscape stake to remove
his grid, stir his coals, and remove ash from the bottom of the Egg. Until
this point, he had never given it much thought. When he responded to the
post with his method, someone off-handedly suggested that he should put
a handle on it. That evening, he did.
The following day Lawn Ranger posted a pic of a very crude prototype,
and by the end of the day he had received a reply from Chris (Nature Boy)
asking if he could make him one. He did, and from the beginning, Nature
Boy has been very instrumental to the success of the LRL . To date there
have been over 90 lifters shipped to 27 states.
The woods selected for the construction of the lifters are the dominant
hardwood species indigenous to the San Antonio area. These include Mesquite,
Live Oak, Cedar (Ashe Juniper) and Pecan. Each lifter is hand-crafted
to insure that there are no two alike. If desired, initials or names are
burned into the handle to provide a personal touch to each lifter.
Lawn Ranger is Mike Schweitzer, father of two grown and married children;
Reagan(daughter) and Ryan, and a beautiful six year old daughter, Marina,
who was adopted from Russia 5 1/2 years ago. Mike also has a very lovely
and supportive wife named Sharon.
Mike is a graduate of Texas Tech University, and is employed as the Assistant
Director of Physical Plant/ Director of Landscape Services at Trinity
University in San Antonio, Texas.
